Learning to teach
We have all had teachers who inspired us.
We believe that such teachers have themselves been taught well!
Our Yoga Teacher Course therefore focuses on all areas of what it takes to make an inspiring and confident teacher, able to teach safely and share information effectively in this demanding discipline which offers so much more than simply physical movememt and exercise.
The TYA offers a comprehensive Teacher Treaning Course that prepares one for embodying and teaching the various aspects of Yoga with confidence. Register interest.
The TYA Teacher Course includes:
Module 1: Anatomy and Physiology
The emphasis here is on the dynamics and mechanics of movement in relation to asana (postures) and pranayama (breathwork).
First Aid Training is also provided as part of the Course.
Module 2: Asana, Vinyasa, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha, Dhyanam and Dharana
You will learn to teach all aspects of Yoga-from physical movement to subtle meditation techniques.
You will also learn how to offer safe alternatives when students have difficulties with particular postures and how to adjust effectively.
Module 3: Teaching Adults
You will learn different teaching methods and how to encourage students to explore their limits safely and effectively.
You will also cover the implementation of Health and Safety laws in Yoga classes and the application of the Data Protection Act in your teaching.
You will learn the TYA’s Code of Ethics and how this can enhance your teaching.
Your Tutors
You will be learning from TYA Tutors who have many years of experience teaching Yoga and have undergone our rigorous Tutor Training Programme.
Course Work Assessment
Assessment of your progress will take place throughout the Course by means of observed teaching, multiple choice questionnaires, essays, and final dissertation and presentation.
Philosophy
The philosophy already studied on the Foundation Course will become ever more clear as you learn how to apply it in your teaching.
Course Requirements
To gain a place on the TYA Yoga Teacher Training Course you will first have to complete the TYA Foundation Course.
Teachers Course work will need at least two to three hours a week of home study as well as committed personal daily practice.
In addition, for the duration of the Teachers Course you will have to attend at least one week Yoga class of your choice.
Recognition
The TYA Teacher Training is part of Yoga Alliance.
